The S Word.

I'm in Los Angeles for two weeks helping with "The S Word," a documentary, directed by the talented and thoughtful Lisa Klein. The film tackles one of the most unfathomable issues of our time: suicide. It does this by sharing stories of individuals who attempted suicide and survived.

We hope the film raises awareness about suicide prevention and resources for help, that it expands the conversation around suicide and makes it easier for people to discuss it without judgment, shame, stigma or discrimination, and we hope it gets people thinking in a more compassionate way about depression, mental illness and suicide -- those who think about it; attempt and survive it, those who die by it.
